Phototropism
When a plant grows or bends toward light.
Auxin
A special chemical in plants that helps them grow, especially on the side away from the light.
Chlorophyll
The green stuff in leaves that helps plants use sunlight to make food.
Wavelength
A way to describe different colors of light. Red light and blue light have different wavelengths.
Photoreceptor
A part of the plant that senses light and helps it know which way to grow.
Control Group
The plant in the experiment that gets normal light (or no special light). We compare other plants to this one.
Variable
The part of the experiment we change. In this case, it could be the color of the light.
Dependent Variable
What we measure in the experiment, like how much the plant bends or grows.
Hypothesis
A smart guess about what will happen. Example: "I think the plant will bend more toward blue light."
Photosynthesis
How plants make food using sunlight, air, and water.
